Podcast production

In 2016 I started a gig running social media for a fun movie podcast and within four short years that little side hustle would eventually snowball into a producer role for Blank Check.

Through social media (@blankcheckpod), the show gained the attention of artist Lin-Manuel Miranda, directors Nancy Meyers and Gina Prince Bythewood, Star Wars writer Chris Weitz (now past and future guest), and other famous filmmakers.

Building an online presence from scratch, I brought our Twitter following to upwards of 22.k people and Instagram to 7,800.

By 2018, I started joining the hosts and producer on mic on occasion and early in 2020 even hosted a takeover episode for Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey.

I wore a few hats as producer

  • Updated the team calendar and coordinated with guests pre-record

  • Recorded and edited 2-3 hour long episodes for weekly ep drops as well as 3x Patreon releases per month

  • Communicate episode notes between hosts, producer, and editors

  • Wrote copy for episode descriptions, hiring posts, live show announcements, COVID-related press releases

  • Coordinated merch launches and researched charities for percentage cut

  • Made sure language and content reflects growing audience, pushed for representation for BIPOC and LGBTQI community

  • Scheduled team meetings regarding show direction and branding, communicating feedback from listeners through social
